    ----OLD NEWS:----

    Hi!

I have managed to get androidTV on the Neo U1!
With the USB Burning tool and this image: 5.1.1 Firmware V0.0.7 Android TV ext for AM2

    https://www.android-warehouse.com/en/information/android-tv-firmware-software/

Android TV is working perfectly and Kodi and apps are running fast!

BUT! i have no LAN or Wi-Fi :(

Can some geek help me with this?

    Many thanks!

    ----NEW NEWS:----

In collaboration with JJ-KwiK we succeeded in getting androidTV working on the NEO U1.

No bugs, and androidTV is working great.
There are only two small problems:

-Ethernet is not (yet) working, but Wi-Fi is quick enough for 4K.
-And I can't get Netflix working. I've tried a lot of different apk's.
It's starts, I see Netflix logo, then crashes back to android.
And the other versions are not compatible with this version of android.

    ----INSTALLATION:----
    Warnings:
1- Please create a twrp backup

I have tried the same ROM ... AM1 and AM2 ... and many others.
All releases found use another wifi/BT soc.
    our U1 uses S905 with AP6356S (WiFI/BT soc) and RTL8211F (ethernet)

This is the correct answer. Incompatible drivers for the different WiFi chipsets.
Also the device tree used (dtb.img) on the other box will be a bit incompatible with the U1 and that would be the root cause of Ethernet not working.

I took a quick look at the ROM @MichiMess was using and I was able to patch wifi/Bluetooth. I have not been able to fix the ethernet. I don't own the U1, so I can't really do much more without some trial and error.

Anywho, shoot me a pm if you want the flashable zip file.

Yes! Thanks to you we have a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth It's also running fast.
    Only I can't find/install Netflix...
    I tried a view apk's but they won't run.
Maybe someone has a solution for this ?

I don't own the U1, so I was unable to test the patch. However, @MichiMess has confirmed that the patch works. Use at your own risk.

Again, I don't own this device, so I will not support it. Use at your own risk.

No bugs, all the other app's are running great! But I can't get Netflix working.

I taught that I once read that Netflix looks for a androidTV certificate? It's this possible ?

Dammit! Netflix is my first reason to change to android TV... Have you tried the one from this post? http://www.minixforum.com/threads/android-tv-on-the-minix-u9-h.16908/

I have ported the AM1 ROM, WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet are working,I have included a Nextflix app which installed and opened to the login screen but I could not test it as I do not have an account. After install you will be presented with the familiar Minix boot screen followed by the familiar Minix boot animation, Android TV will boot up in around 5 mins after the initial Minix boot screen so have some patience and enjoy staring at that beautiful flashing Minix boot animation (y)

Had a wee play and not quite sure why you would want Android TV, maybe you all know something I don't!! Any how, this was a quick port as I did not have much time, I will however play around on the weekend and see if there is more that can be done, in the meantime, enjoy.....

This is a free file hoster so grab it while you can, not sure how long they will host it for!!

OMG! How did you do this? It's working like a charm :S

The reason is that standard Android don't supports Netflix HD and AndroidTV does.

Everything works GOOD! Netflix has a better quality! But HD? i dont know.

I also missing the shortcut for Netflix at the homescreen and also the power menu.

Once again, good work! How did you do this? :)

@Marty - Awesome man. Out of curiosity, what files were required for Ethernet?

Have you tried porting the marshmallow 6.0.1 rom from the AM1? It might be nice for U1 users...
    http://ugoos.net/blog/s905-marsmallow-update-v111-kodi17-ugoos-settings

@MichiMess - that's a tablet version of the app modified to display HD content for non-certified boxes.

You could try this ATV app I modified for another box. It may work, it may not. You need to uninstall the version you have installed first.
