there was no new XMBC for MINIX release for a long time (e.g. version based on Kodi v17.6).
Now, as Kodi v18 is in development status, I would like to know what's the plan of future XBMC for MINIX releases?

Does it still make sense to develop it at all or newer (original) Kodi is optimized for MINIX devices, so no need for XBMC for MINIX fork?

Could you please advise? Anybody from the dev/tester team, please!

I don't use Kodi that much but have always used Kodi from the Play Store.

I've only ever installed MINIX XBMC to see how different it is/was and for me I could never tell the difference!

as minix is now a sponsor of Kodi i doubt they will do further development of minix xbmc
and of course kodi works just fine (99% of the time)

There is no longer the need for a customized version of KODI ('XBMC for MINIX') now that the standard KODI is optimized.

This means, that the current stable, v17.6, is also optimized for MINIX devices?

You can play big 4k h265 files without any problem, so hardware acceleration is supported. Ken explained it long time ago when we asked for a new xmbc version.

I always liked how "XBMC for Minix" used its own audio channel/OSD controls and not Kodi's. Kodi's gets in the way of anything I'm watching by bringing up the bottom bar. It's one of the reasons why I'm still using it, even though it's old it works just fine in my setup.
