The installation worked ony my minix U1 and AML-codec is really used now. But for more tests I had no time until now.

So lets share the impressions here.

I installed it on my U9 recently and it was terrible.....constant stuttering and freezing, going out of sync etc etc..all with files that i play on U9 with kodi 17.3 without any issues

I noticed that when installed it called itself 17.4 alpha 1 and not 17.4 beta..maybe minix linked to the wrong version.....either way i removed it from my box

I don't think this link should be shared until @MINIX - Ken posts a statement that it is available and what this version is exactly!

When installed it is indeed called 17.4 Alpha 1.

Edit: Aug 24 2017 link added back into Post #1

    Hi all,

I installed the 17.4 version on my x8h+ but had a black screen when playing video/films. My tv (sony bravia) gave the message ‘invalid format, check your device’. I installed the 17.3 version and thats working very well.....

    Btw......

I only tested the lollipop version. Guess v17.x is not working on kitkat, thats the reason that we have lollipop.

Thanks. I will wait for the final Lolipop FW release before installing any kodi 17.x.

I've installed MINIX_XBMC_V17.4_beta.apk in my minix U1 neo and it isn't works properly. The images stutter ; on the other side Krypton 17.3 works fine ( after 3 -4 attempts of starting).

I've extensivly tested this version of Kodi. First of all i think that source used to build are from SPMC because if you change to touch-emabled skin, appears New SPMC Logo.
The performance is still not as good as Kodi version 16, but it is close.
For me the main problem is that videos is not smooth. I have X8H-Plus with Lolipop RC2. The autorefresh rate works (it changes to 24hz) but after 1 minute of playing the video accelerates and video and audio is not sync. If you forward the video resynchronizes and works well, but after 1 minute vuleve to pass the same.

In SPMC github there are some new commits about new fixes for AML. Maybe solve this issue.

    Thanks.

I have downloaded and installed the XBMC for Minix 17.4 beta on my U9H.

1: Works well overall, definitely MUCH better than the 17.3 alpha
    2: Still some issues.
    - Plays pretty smoothly, but after some time will start to stutter. If you pause the playback, especially if long enough to go into screensaver mode, when you start it up again, it can stutter badly. Stopping the playback and restarting from where you stopped solves the stutter issue.
3: Connecting to the internet now works, so I was able to download the Confluence skin.
4: Some issues with starting a video and getting either no sound, or no video, or both. Sometimes solved by stopping and then restarting the video. Rebooting also works.

One thing I do not understand, some video files play back very badly on XBMC (like slow motion and audio WAY out of sync), but those same files will play back in another player without issue. I assume this is a codec issue, but that begs the question of how Android handles codecs. Is codec use/storage specific to each player, rather than a common Android installation?

Anyway very pleased with the improvements in the 17.4 beta. At least now I can actually use my U9H for the first time since purchase, almost 6 months ago. Really looking forward to the final release that, hopefully, will resolve additional issues.

My opinion, leave it; better use Kodi 17.3 the best solution. Plays smoothly - but don't start by air -mouse.

I think I have encountered a bug in the latest release Minix XBMC 17. It seems that whenever I start watching YouTube videos using MPEG DASH with hardware acceleration enabled the sound can be heard playing at normal speed but the video plays as if it is being fast forwarded so the audio and video are always out of sync the problem goes away when I turn off amcodec acceleration

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so what can I do to resolve this if anything?

Make sure you don't have any other versions of Minix XBMC installed as it won't install otherwise
