Don't care about games, 4K, streaming, apps or color bits.

I play 12+GB Bluray copies stored on Network drives & USB drives connected to Network drives with sound formats like these:

    DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1
    TrueHD/AC3 (Atmos) 7.1
    AC3 Ex 5.1
    DTS-HD Master Audio 2548 kbps 7.1
    DTS-MA 5.1

NVidaShield is overkill I think so which of these should I go for if at all: NEO X8-H Plus or Neo U1.

I have an 7.1 AV Amp if that makes a differance.
As far as I can see nothing can yet beat my 10 year old WD box for playability or am I wrong?

For 7.1 sound the only option is the u1.. x8 series handles up to 5.1.

Bloody hell. We've gone back 20 years.

I've just dumped a WD box in favour of the Neo U1.

I dumped it because my WD wouldn't decode H264. Of course, if you're just doing straight Blueray rips with no compression, it won't be an issue for you but it's incorrect to say that nothing beats your redundant 10 year old WD box that won't play modern video formats. ;-)
