Hi Guys i need help, I have a Minix Neo X7 which was working well for me so far with Jarvis 16.1 ( no audio passthrough though) I am keen to move to Krypton 17 and I can't seem to find any help with this anywhere, minix has stopped providing any support, which really sucks, this is a 3 year old device, i don't want to just trash it, but i know within a few months my plugins would expect me to run on Kodi 17 and not 16. Th xbox its self is plenty capable i think, i just need a proper firmware to flash and the right version of Kodi so i could use the Audio passthrough, I have beautiful surround system sitting at home that does not really do anything besides stereo at the moment because i am not getting the rich output from my box. I have it also connected through spdif but this port does not work either any help would be appreciated.

There will be no updates to Lollipop for the X7. It is based on the RK3188 and as far as I know MINIX have no plans to create official X7 firmware for that chipset/SoC. I know this is no help to you, and perhaps there may be custom firmware from devs out there, however, I feel that there will not be anything satisfactory for your needs. Three years in this environment is a lifetime, and in some ways, you should send some of the blame towards Google who instead of creating an operating system called Android, want to constantly shift the sands with Kitkat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and whatever ridiculous name the next iteration will be called.

I would suggest selling the X7 while it still has some value and moving on.

Thanks yeah I guess, that would be the best option, its really annoying as i paid around a 150 bucks for this device and i won't get over 10 bucks for it, i am not going to buy any more android boxes any more , will move on to a small htpc option !

I believe this version will give you passthrough...

This will allow you to run Kodi 17! Is passthrough working? Not sure!

Google FTMC . Freaktab has a modified 16.1 version that supports SSL, just like 17.

@ieswideopen - good and valid point, Kodi is open source, so why the heck can't a version be created to support SSL and previous API revisions. All it takes is the community of brainboxes to sort it out. That's what the basic principal of XBMC was all about in the first place.
