    Dear all NEO X6 users,
    (This beta firmware is for MINIX NEO X6 only)

    We're releasing this beta Android Lollipop firmware based on the last SDK released by Amlogic,
    because Amlogic have terminated to support this SDK, we have spent lots of time optimizing the firmware by ourselves.

    Please note that beta firmware users will not receive future FOTA updates.

    Features that we have integrated to this firmware:

    1.) Auto refresh rate switching of amcodec (not mediacodec), for both local and online media;
    2.) New SAMBA server function, based on the latest SMB release;
    3.) Faked Wi-Fi feature;
    4.) Latest MINIX launcher;
    5.) NEO A3 remote support;
    6.) Working CEC;
    7.) Final release of MINIX XBMC V16.3

    Features that are known to be not supported by this firmware:

    1.) HD audio passthrough - it's an Amlogic S805 series CPU limitation, lack of I2S channels;
    2.) Refresh rate of mediacodec - Amlogic haven't make this feature working on Lollipop;

    A few things to note about this Lollipop beta:

    1.) This firmware is being made as compact as possible as RAM is limited;
    2.) App store is included, you may find your own preferred apps there;
    3.) We've already boosted the CPU/RAM performance to their max;
    4.) It's not fast, as limited by the hardware, be patient when you use it;

    We are releasing this beta as promised and hoping to collect feedback from you guys.

    For those who are interested to try out, we sincerely hope that you can help us by doing the following things:
    1.) Report any problems found in a gentle, peaceful manner;
    2.) Do not complain, if you were going to complain, we kindly advise you not to try, please;
    3.) Do not start fire of any kinds in this thread;

    Download link of X6 Android Lollipop beta firmware from MINIX forum server (Europe):

    MD5 checksum: b261b1b914359607ad70ad861bd767ab

    We will be finalizing this firmware based on the feedback.
    So please feel free to try out and comment, thanks!

    Firmware image flash guide:

    Upgrade method 2, from Android 4.4:

    Download and extract this .rar file, you will get 2 files, one .zip & one upgrade parameters file,
    simply run the built-in Amlogic system update app, and choose the .zip file and reboot the system when it prompts for.

    Team MINIX.

    Wow that's great news. I thought the X6 was dead.

    Will try it out when download links are posted.

    Any chance of releasing source code?

    We can provide .zip package, but you have to wait for 1-2 days.

    For over a year i was hoping for this update so it's no problem for me to wait 1 or 2 days more.

    I'm sorry to inform you that after checking with our software engineer, it's not possible to upgrade from 4.4 to 5.1 using the .zip package,
    because upgrade using this method preserves data, things like uboot can't get updated and thus wouldn't work at all.

    However, upgrading from beta to future version based on 5.1 can be done using the .zip method.

    Please note!

    Thanks for checking.

    I found my USB cable and try to update but it doesn't work.

    It regonized the X6 on my computer, start to erase bootloader and after that it says 1%:Download DDR and after 40 seconds i see this error:

    Have you verified the MD5 checksum of the downloaded .rar is correct before flashing?
    Are you still able to use the device with its original KiaKat firmware? I assumed.
    You can find the error log here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Amlogic\USB_Burning_Tool\log
    upload it and let us check.

    I did not use the original cable that was supplied so yesterday evening i searched again and i found the original cable, with that one i had no issues to load the firmware so now my X6 is loaded with lollipop.
    Thanks for the help!

    I will now test the X6 and will give some feedback soon.

    works very well at first glance, just did nto found 'Inactivity shutdown' like in 4.4 firmware, foudn only somethign called 'Daydream', does this thing works? It has shutdown screen feature, but I don't know if its a 100% alternative to old inacitivity shutdown.

    This new firmware is great news. Thanks for all your work, we apreciate it. Will the final version be avaiable via FOTA or will it be necessary to flash de firmware?

    To upgrade from 4.4 to 5.1, all data must be wiped,
    therefore OTA is not a good option.
    However, we may provide a simple method, a .zip package that wipe all data and execute inside the Amlogic update app,
    just two clicks.

    Glad to know you fixed it, we've made a zip package that wipes all data and uploading it,
    in case someone needs it.

    One little bug - when you turn on automatic screen off, and device goes standby mode, you cannot switch it back with remote, only by pressing button on the device.
